Here We Go Again...

 

It's hard to believe we are already into the new term and Module Two is now underway!!

It was lovely to see new and familiar faces on our Zoom call the other day and it was a nice way to ease us in...

...Because Module 2 appears to be a LOT more work. Which I suppose is to be expected. I've already come across all sorts of language and concepts that I have no comprehension of but let's be honest, that's exactly why we're here. If you've nothing to learn, you've nowhere to grow. 🌷

As preparation for Module 3, I'm expecting M2 to involve a lot of exploration and a lot of discovery. There are so, SO many different topics, areas, issues and themes that you could investigate and use for the inquiry, so I'm hoping in the next few weeks I will be able to refine my thoughts on which route to go down and what I want to look into.

Although at this point both planning and actually carrying out an inquiry seems a bit daunting, I'm looking forward to being able to challenge what I know and find things out about an area I'm interested in, perhaps looking for answers to unanswered questions (I use the term 'answers' lightly because if you've been here before, you know that answers just aren't a thing) and going down the rabbit holes of unopened doors.


I hope everyone settles in well and enjoys the start of a new term. My fellow Module 2s, I think we will be supporting each other a lot through this!! I am so grateful for the community we have built going into this term. We can do it!!

Time to find a topic...

    Hi Roanne, I am happy to be reading your blogs again! I know how you feel, this module will definitely be challenging for many reasons, but we have a great community established to support each other and if we've done it once, we can do it again! x

    Hi Roanne! I really like this post and admit that the workload of module 2 is very intimidating at the moment. But I think everyone on this module will look out for each other and undoubtedly be feeling the same things throughout. Off we go! x

The Art of Being an Artist

Can you even say you're on this course without at some point going down a rabbit hole? I think not. Allow me to introduce you to the warren I've fallen into.  Following my blog debating whether dance is a sport, how the two are similar/different, and if its place in the Olympics is valid, something kept cropping up: Dancers are artists Dancers are artists. Dance is art. Dance goes beyond just the physical skill to artistry. Dance unites athleticism and artistry. Dance is not a sport because it is an art form. Module 3 Reflection

  I cannot fully believe that I am at the end of Module 3 and of the BAPP course. It feels like only a few weeks ago that I was sitting at the start of module 1 wondering what on earth I was even going to be studying! Safe to say it has not been without its challenges, of both the good and less good varieties. But these are all things that help us to grow. I think this has been a more enjoyable module than module 2 because it has felt more focused and centred around the inquiry topic that I wanted to investigate. It has also been interesting to attempt academic inquiry for the first time and interview professionals for research. Of all the things that I have learnt across the module, a few that stand out are the fundamental aspect of story is emotion, not necessarily narrative plot it is emotion that grounds us in experience and ultimately gives that experience meaning communication through dance is never one way and always relies on the interpretation of the audience language...
