Areas of Learning & Practice
Trying to map and define your practice is definitely easier said than done. The last week has been a bit overwhelming for me in general - we all know life gets that way sometimes! - and trying to work out the parameters of my essay for module one has been a struggle.
I did however come up with a mind map of different areas of my practice and learning. I am hoping from this I will be able to pick out elements that have helped to define my practice or made a big impact on my life.
Dancing is a part of me and who I am. It has given me so much and I cannot imagine a life without it. The experiences I have had have been very diverse and have taught me so many lessons, and being on this course, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, has given me a lot of cause for reflection on it all.
I am yet to actually start my career in dance, but the skills and attitudes it has given me are what are currently guiding me through and keeping me moving towards my goals.
If anyone has any ideas on setting about the essay I'd love to know!

I am sure you will have the most wonderful career when we get the industry up and running! Great mind map! So colourful and so much information and ideas! Have you managed to pin point your areas of learning that you will focus on?
ReplyDeleteI think I am aiming to do an intro and then talk about each lens and match it one of my learning objectives and have them in three separate paragraphs / sections and then have conclusion to tie it all in together
Thank you Emily! Very kind of you to say.
DeleteI really went full out on the coloured pens there haha. That's a great way to do it, you should really be able to get everything you need in that way!
I have managed to narrow down a couple of areas that have really impacted me long term - one mental (anxiety) and one physical (injury) - just trying to work out how they connect to the lenses or wider world.
Sounds like you have a plan! x
I agree with Emily, once the industry resumes I'm sure you will have a wonderful career - your passion and 'work ethic' definitely demonstrate this! What a great mind map, so many wonderful ideas! I am also feeling slightly overwhelmed about my essay and how to structure it. I need to think a bit more about it (possibly create another mind map). The ideas are there, I just have no idea how to convert this onto paper. I think your ideas are great though! x
ReplyDeleteAw thank you Alice! I appreciate your lovely comment. Honestly I have about five mind maps now so I would say go for it! Starting the writing seemed so daunting as I didn't want to get it "wrong" but I just decided to start with writing the absolute basics of what I had and told myself it didn't matter because this wasn't the final version. Now I keep going back and looking at where I can improve or research etc. I kind of see it like choreography in that I can change anything right up to the last minute! x
